Here Ye, Here Ye...

GAV THE IMPALA is a stickler for details. So here are some for you.

Those wishing to take part in this years parade please read.

Whitby Krampus Run 3.30pm 1st December Church Street Whitby

A costumed parade and public event interpreting the fine old traditions from Austria now in its 4th year. This year we are welcoming a troupe of drummers Die Krampus Krümpettes who will lead the parade.

For those new to the event and wishing to take part in the costumed parade you will need to let us know at least 4 weeks before the event and register as a member of the Whitby Krampus Pass which is now a society. There is a registration fee of £10 for joining in return you will receive a membership certificate, a WKR IV enamel badge and an Ancient Order of Krampus badge.

It isn’t possible to turn up on the day and join in with the parade because it is an event requiring public liability insurance and a traffic management company to deal with the rolling road closures.

There's health and safety stuff too especially as regards children and vulnerable adults so we would like as many participants to be aware of this through info we will send you.

There will be guidelines for participants and stewards issued 2 weeks before the event and we would like as many people who are participating to come along for the welcoming night on 31st November at 7.00pm at Krampus Centraal for a meet, greet, induction and run through of plans for the next days event. Krampus Centraal is at The Friendship Rowing Club, on Church Street, YO22 4DH

Volunteers are very welcome to help with setting up the event, stewarding and all sorts of support including carrying buckets for Whitby Wildlife Sanctuary.

This is an interpretation of the tradition and not an imitation so there's no strict policy over acceptable costumes but keep it relevant. Have a look at previous years and how it's done in other countries. Incorporation of local folklore welcome, last year we had a Star Carr Shaman. This year we are looking for a Black Dog/Barghest. There are also props to carry and carts to pull if you want to do something practical in the performance. We shall post ideas and useful stuff about materials, YouTube tutorials and the like. We can also provide support and advice.

All money raised by the event will be going to Whitby Wildlife Sanctuary.

We've got some very fine apres krampus entertainment lined up for Saturday night. For the evening event there will be a donation for entry to see the amazing bands plus other surprises (more of which later) also sales of merchandise, raffle and art auction to raise funds for this excellent local charity.

That's it for now folks, have fun with your preparations. More information to follow but please get in contact. Either through Facebook or decadentdrawing@talktalk.net

Thankyou all from the bottom of our dark hearts

Gruss Vom Whitby Krampus }8^~
